Springbok Estate and Sachel Court within, lies in Alford off the A281 (see map below). It’s owned by the Merchant Seamen’s War Memorial Society - like us a registered charity - and the lake is mainly run for the use of their members.

However the WVDAA have agreed an ongoing arrangement with the Merchant Seamen’s War Memorial Society for the use of the lake by our members for pleasure fishing all year round, plus 5 annual, exclusive match days for our season’s fixture list and this year we are holding our Sponsored Fish-in here to raise funds for our charity

The Lake has one island, around 18 recently re-furbished pegs, with a few more made fishable after 2013 work parties. CLICK HERE TO SEE PICTURE GALLERY . Car parking is 150 yds from the water, with a few spaces for blue badge holders even nearer. The lake is stocked with Roach, Perch, Crucians, Tench plus Common, Mirror & Ghost Carp and, during one of our 5 hour matches there, the top weight exceeded 100 lbs.

Sachel Court is a residential, sheltered home and as such sports a fine Plough & Anchor bar and a restaurant, famed for its estate grown, organic fruit and vegetables.

Our members are entitled to use the bar as they wish and also the restaurant, but meals must be booked 24 hrs in advance.
